Last quarter 2021 is very busy for SERECO further to the formal Purchase Order from the JV MOL-OC-AC-HAC for the design, manufacturing, supply and supervision to installation of key process equipment of the largest plant in the world for Agriculture Drainage Treatment.
The main equipment that SERECO shall supply are the inlet screens complete with mechanical cleaning system Trash rake type with local and remote controls; the 300 flocculation mixers model SERECO EPSx007F designed as a result of a specifically computerized fluid dynamics analysis based on CFD simulation capable to work at variable speed thanks for the on-board VFD; and the 15 central drive mechanical thickeners to be installed in 26 m diameter tanks already under execution on site and other accessories.
All equipment will be made of stainless steel grade AISI 316L due to the characteristics of the water to treat and in a very tight period of time.
The Egyptian JV MOL-OC-AC-HAC is building the El Hammam Agriculture Drainage Treatment Plant on the Nile delta, for the Egyptian government, having a potential that was unthinkable until now: 7.5 million cubic meters of treated water per day. The water will be used for agricultural purposes in a semi-desertic area to in Alexandria in Egypt.
To better understand the dimension in flow rate to which SERECO is participating with these supplies, it can be usable to compare it with the biggest river of southern Italy, the Ofanto river. Ofanto has an average flow rate of 14.3 m3 per second, the plant under construction in Egypt has a flow rate of 86.8 m3 per second, it is exactly like six Ofanto rivers at the same time.
This plant is the largest but it is one of a number of similar investments in the water sector that Egypt launched to enhance its agricultural production from both a quantitative and qualitative point of view.
In fact, by irrigating their crops with treated water, not polluted by the discharges of an urban agglomeration like Cairo that has some 21 million inhabitants, it will be possible to satisfy the consumption of the Egyptian population which is increasing and has already more than 100 million inhabitants in total, and also improve the export of the surpluses of the agricultural product certified from the hygienic-environmental point of view.
SERECO is deploying its efforts to supply in time and high standards equipment to be part of this milestone project.
